先日Fortune誌が「100 Best Companies to Work For (US)」を発表しました。
１位グーグルからはじまるランキングはさておき、Fortune誌上ではランキング８８位のFour Seasons Hotelsを最初にフォーカス、これは「従業員がこんなに楽しんでるぜ！」という文脈で語られてるんだけど、、
“So it’s easy to understand why Four Seasons has a cultlike clientele. One Maui guest told a manager, “If there’s a heaven, I hope it’s run by Four Seasons” What’s less obvious is why the staff seems so enamored with their roles. The yearly turnover for full time employees is around 18%, which is half the industry average. And at some locations, like Bali, it’s as low as 3%… ” (Fortune Feb4 2008
ざっくり訳：
「で、フォーシーズンズが熱狂的な顧客を持つに至ったワケを理解するのは簡単です。あるゲスト＠マウイがマネージャーに曰く、『天国があるなら是非フォーシーズンズに運営してもらいたいね』、と。ちょっとグレーなのはなぜ従業員がそんなに自分のロールに熱中しているのかということ。実際に年間の離職率は１８％、これは業界平均の半分であり、バリ等なんかでは３％にも下がってしまう。」
という驚異的な離職率の低さを出した上で、その主たる理由が「You’re never treated like just an employee. You’re a guest」という従業員インタビューによって語られる
これってリッツカールトンのモットー、「We Are Ladies and Gentlemen Serving Ladies and Gentlemen. 」と何か通じるモノがある。
